A former Harlan County man has died in a motorcycle crash in Tennessee.
According to the Citizen Tribune of Morristown, Tenn., Clifford Miracle Jr., 62, was killed when his motorcycle was involved in a head-on collision on Friday.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Lee said Miracle was riding northbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the southbound lane of US 25E in Bean Station, Tenn., and struck a Ford Mustang driven by Dallas Newland, 20, of Kingsport, Tenn.
The Citizen Tribune reports Miracle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Neither drugs nor alcohol are thought to be a contributing factor in the incident.
In police action:
* Demetric Washington, 27, of Lynch, was arrested by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office on charges of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, violation of a Kentucky EPO, possession of a controlled substance, and prescription controlled substance not in proper container. Washington was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Washington was arrested on an indictment warrant and additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and prescription controlled substance not in a proper container because after the arrest it was discovered Washington had two pills in his pocket;
* Ashley Smallwood, 27, of Wallins, was arrested by the sheriff’s office on Saturday on a charge of theft by unlawful taking under $500;
* Paul Buell, 29, of Wallins, was arrested on Saturday by the sheriff’s office on a charge of first-degree robbery;
* Sara Lee, 31, of Lynch, was arrested on Saturday by the sheriff’s office on a charge of second-degree complicity to burglary. Lee was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond.
