Curtis Allen, age 71, of Crummies, KY passed away Monday, August 27, 2012 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital due to a massive stroke. He was born in Harlan, KY on February 20, 1941 to the late Jim and Cora King Allen. Curtis was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of the Harlan County Honor Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Allen & Carol Sue Clem; two brothers, Hubert and Roy Allen.

He is survived by his Wife; Patricia Allen of Three Point, Ky. six children from his first marriage, Joel Allen and wife Thressa of Lynch, Ruby Elayne Walters and husband Marcus of Wallins, Lisa Wilder and husband Woodrow of East Bernstadt, Jacqueline Zena Thomas and husband Chester of Sunshine, Jonathan Dale Allen and Tiffany Creech of Crummies, and Rachel Lewis and husband Timothy of Harlan; 5 sisters and 3 brothers, Irene Hubbs of Lily, Shirley Landa of Harlan, Thelma Gross and husband Joe of Lily, Dorothy Skidmore and husband Tim of Cranks, Mary Pennington and husband Frank of Keith, Leon Allen and wife Betty of Cranks, and Jimmy Allen of Cranks; Chris Allen & wife Jennifer of Graysknob, Ky. 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 12 o’clock noon in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Howard officiating. Burial will follow at the Allen Family Cemetery in Cranks, KY. The Harlan County Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers and will also provide military rites. Honorary pallbearers include grandsons, Sampson Allen, Shawn Allen, Marcus Walters, Jeremy Allen, Roston Thomas, Adam Sharp, Jay Sharp, and Cameron Thomas.
