District court cases

The following cases have been heard in Harlan District Court, Judge Jeff Brock presiding.

Scott Hatfield, 48, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence with minor injury), second-degree wanton endangerment, public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol), menacing — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set Feb. 5.

Elvin D. Ingram, 24, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence with no visible injury), possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, failure to produce insurance card — first charge, pleaded guilty, fined $708, operator’s license suspended 30 days and sentenced to driving school; other charges dismissed (at request of victim).

Christopher Shane Sargent, 21, third-degree terroristic threatening — dismissed on agreement of peace bond.

George Allen, 24, sell/transfer simulated controlled substance (first offense) — pretrial conference set Sept. 24.

Allen W. Halcomb, 26, speeding (26 or more miles per hour over the limit), failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, expired or no Kentucky registration receipt, reckless driving, resident registered/titled vehicle in other state — first charge, pleaded guilty, fined $133 and sentenced to traffic school; other charges dismissed on proof.

Ashley Dean, 20, license plate not legible, operating vehicle on suspended/ revoked operator’s license, instructional permit violations, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set Feb. 5.

Mark A. White, 31, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to produce insurance card — pleaded not guilty, jury trial set Feb. 5.

Tia R. Pennington, 23, second-offense driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to produce insurance card, failure to register transfer of a motor vehicle — first charge, amended to first-offense driving under the influence of alcohol/ drugs, pleaded guilty, fined $708, operator’s license suspended 30 days and sentenced to driving school; other charges dismissed.

Steven W. Bledsoe, 32, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, operating vehicle on suspended/ revoked operator’s license — first charge, pleaded guilty, fined $708, operator’s license suspended 30 days and sentenced to driving school; other charge dismissed.

Nathan A. Massingale, 31, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to wear seat belt, no operator’s/moped license — failed to appear for hearing (bond set at $1,000 cash).

Gary B. Peterson, 25, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, failure to wear seat belt, license to be in possession, possession of marijuana — continued for arraignment.

Bradley W. Shelton, 35, failure to produce insurance card, failure to use child restraint device in vehicle, expired or no registration plate, expired or no Kentucky registration receipt — first two charges, pleaded guilty, fined $100 (court costs waived); other charges dismissed.

Jonathan M. Bushnell, 27, failure to wear seat belt — continued for arraignment.

Justin K. Helton, 24, failure to wear seat belt, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security — continued for arraignment.

Jamie B. Stewart, 27, failure to wear seat belt — dismissed on warning.

Aaron J. Amburgey III, 19, failure to wear seat belt — dismissed on warning.

Derek Domingo, 23, speeding (15 miles per hour over the limit), expired or no Kentucky registration receipt, failure to wear seat belt, careless driving — first charge, pleaded guilty, fined $30 (court costs waived); other charges dismissed.

David Smith, 41, speeding (20 miles per hour over the limit), reckless driving, expired or no registration plate, expired or no Kentucky registration receipt — continued for arraignment.

Tommy Watkins, 44, obstructed vision and/or windshield, failure to produce insurance card — first charge, pleaded guilty, fined $50 (court costs waived); other charge dismissed.

Isaac Pennington, 35, fourth-degree assault (no visible injury) — pleaded guilty, fined $233 and sentenced to 90 days in jail (probated 24 months).

Justin Farmer, 20, speeding (14 miles per hour over the limit), failure to produce insurance card, improper display of registration plate, improper equipment, expired or no Kentucky registration receipt, obstructed vision and/or windshield — continued for arraignment.

Jason Stidham, 31, speeding (16 miles per hour over the limit), failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, failure to produce insurance card, license to be in possession, careless driving — first charge, pleaded guilty, fined $165; other charges dismissed.

Alisha Zunda, 25, speeding (nine miles per hour over the limit), expired or no Kentucky registration receipt — dismissed.

Elbert G. Fulst II, 23, resident fishing without a license/permit — failed to appear for hearing.

Daniel C. Sexton, 44, second-degree criminal trespassing — pleaded guilty, fined $233 and sentenced to 90 days in jail (probated 24 months on conditions).
