An Enterprise Staff Report
The Black Bears and Lady Bears cross country squads captured the team titles at the Harlan County All-Comers Meet recently.
Steven Engle finished fourth to lead the Black Bears in the boys race. Josh Wynn placed seventh. Caleb Bailey came in ninth. Donavan Johnson, Noah Hughes and Caleb Justen finished 10-12 respectively. Steve Reed was 14th. Nate Miller finished 21st, with Tim Witt following in 22nd. Joel Thomas was 27th, and Jacob Watts finished 36th.
Harlan’s Andrew Mills led all local runners with a second-place finish in the boys varsity race. Mason Miller finished fifth for the Dragons, and Ben Jones was eighth.
The Lady Bears dominated the girls competition with four of the top five finishers.
Harlan County’s Kassie Rouse won the race at a time of 23:03.31. Breanna Epperson, Lacey Stevens and Cassidy Ball finished 3rd-5th respectively. Jennifer Graham came in eighth. Arryn Jackson placed 12th. Stevie Shepherd was 14th. Sidney Kelley finished 18th, with Farren Clark following in 19th. Whitney Barger came in 22nd, and Jessica Hall was 23rd.
Laure Pace led the Lady Dragons with a ninth-place finish. Harlan’s Ashton Gross was 24th.
Black Mountain’s Rebecca Middleton and Trent McKenzie won the girls and boys middle school races respectively for Harlan County.
Harlan County’s Madison Blanton won the girls elementary school race, while the Bears’ Drake Ward won the boys event.
