The Harlan Green Dragons routed Pineville 38-0 to capture their sixth straight Mountain Middle School Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday.

“This makes six straight Mountain Middle School Athletic Conference Championships that we have won, but this group is the toughest and most determined group of players that I have coached,” said Harlan coach John Bates. “From the beginning of the season, they simply went out and took it one game at a time.”

Alex Mills returned the opening kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown.

Troy Barton had two rushing touchdowns and Patrick Bynum had one rushing touchdown for the Green Dragon, and James Harris returned a fumble back for a touchdown.

Harris threw for a pair of two-point conversions, with Brady Brock and Andrew Noah on the receiving end. Jake Wilson added a pair of two-point conversions.

Franklin Davis led the Dragons in tackles with nine stops. Garrett Begley added seven tackles.

Harlan feel 42-20 to top-seeded Pineville in the Mountain Middle School Athletic Conference seventh- and eighth-grade championship on Saturday at Union College.

Following a touchdown by Pineville’s Tucker Woolum, Harlan answered as Devin Foster broke free for a 70-yard touchdown to tie the game.

After a Pineville turnover, Harlan took the lead when Tanner Parks found Holden Williams on a 9-yard touchdown pass.

Pineville quickly answered as Will Adams ran the ensuing kickoff back 60 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 12.

Woolum then connected with Adams on a 25-yard touchdown pass. Woolum ran in the two-point conversion to make it 20-12.

Two plays later Foster broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown run out of the wildcat formation. Tyler Jenkins bulldozed his way in for the two-point conversion to tie the game at 20 at the half.

After a pair of fumbles, Pineville scored as Adams ran in from 10-yards out. Woolum added the two-point conversion.

Woolum and Adams each added a touchdown the stretch as Pineville pulled away.

“We came out and played a great first half as we have most of the season. But, we came out in the second half and turned the ball over a few times and this took all of our momentum,” said Harlan coach John Bates. “Overall, I am very proud of this group of players. I am really proud of their effort throughout the season.”
