The Harlan County Black Bears secured the top seed in the Southeastern Kentucky junior varsity division with a 30-0 victory at Corbin on Monday.

Jay Phillips opened the scoring for the 6-0 Bears. The sophomore center recovered a Zach Jenkins fumble in the endzone for the score. Fred Massey ran in the two-point conversion to put Harlan County up 8-0.

Fullback Hunter Lewis raced 45 yards for the Black Bears’ next score. Massey connected with Kasey Coldiron on the two-point conversion to push the lead to 16-0, where it remained at the half.

Massey found Nick Cornett on a 43-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to put Harlan County up 22-0.

Chance Brown tacked on the final touchdown with a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter. Jason Whitehead added the two-point conversion.

Harlan County returns to junior varsity action Monday at home in the conference tournament semifinals.
