Man arrested for pornography distribution

A Harlan man has been arrested on pornography charges involving a juvenile. Kentucky State Police Det. Mike Cornett arrested Jecory L. Fields, 21, on Thursday.

Cornett stated in the complaint that Fields knowingly distributed pornographic material.

“On Oct. 16 in Harlan County, the above named defendant unlawfully and knowingly used communications systems, including computers, computer networks, computer bulletin boards, cellular telephones or any other electronic means, for the purpose of procuring or promoting the use of a minor in sexual activity,” stated Cornett.

Fields allegedly involved a juvenile in this activity.

“The defendant distributed obscene photos to a female juvenile and had said juvenile distribute photos portraying a minor in sexual performance,” reads the complaint.

Fields was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $20,000 full cash bond.

In other police activity:

* Kentucky State Police arrested a Baxter man on Thursday. Fred Scotty Howard, 33, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft by deception to include cold checks and theft by unlawful taking.

A total of three warrants were served on Howard.

According to the warrant, Howard unlawfully and knowingly cashed a forged check that belonged to Donnie Hammons, in the amount of $897 at Mack’s Supermarket on Aug. 30.

Another warrant states Howard unlawfully entered a vehicle and stole $810, belonging to Jeff Beach.

A third warrant taken out by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Cope states that on Sept. 24, Howard pawned items at the Harlan Pawn Shop belonging to someone else. The items included five gold rings, one gold bracelet and four sets of collector coins.

Howard was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

* Billy Baldwin, 36, of Cumberland, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Craig Miller on Thursday on charges of theft by unlawful taking, failure to appear and persistent felony offender. Baldwin was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;

* John Boggs, 38, of Baxter, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Rodney on Thursday. Boggs was charged with theft by unlawful taking and third-degree criminal trespassing. Boggs was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond.
