Jimmy Darrell Campbell, 58, of Cawood, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Hazard App. Regional Hospital following a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Harlan County, he was a graduate of Evarts High School where he excelled in several sports. He had worked as a coal miner for 28 years at Manalapan Mining Company before his illness. Jimmy believed in the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane Akemon Campbell and Robert “Pig” Campbell; his grandparents, Sam and Callie Denton Akemon; Henry and Martha Campbell; and two brothers-in-law, Estil Helton and Leroy Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hickson Campbell, Cawood; four children, Jimmy Campbell II and wife, Kelly, Evarts; Tara Murphy and husband, Johnny, Coldiron; Preston Campbell and Parker Stephens/Campbell, both of Cawood; two step-children, Michael Curtis and wife, Kayla, Cawood; Chrissy Stephens and husband, Darrin, Loyall; and six grandchildren, Meghan Murphy, Riley Murphy, Addison Campbell, Taylor Stephens, Chandler Stephens and Memphis Stephens.

Also surviving are six sisters, Lena Parks and husband, Gary, Cleveland, OH; Juanita Helton, Kildav; Jeloise Wood, Woodruff, SC; Della Clutts and husband, Charles, Seymour, TN; Peggy Waller and husband, David, Kildav; Debra Wilk and husband, Scott, Dallas, TX; two brothers, Charles Campbell and wife, Charlotte, Parma, OH; Terry Campbell and wife, Patty, Broadview, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank Howard officiating. Music will be provided by Brandy Ledford Ewing.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
