Comets knock off Evarts

Austin Adams and Paul Stapleton combined for 55 points as Cawood downed Evarts 59-25 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action on Thursday.

Nick Caldwell paced the Wildcats with nine points.

Evarts held off Cawood 45-44 in the fifth- and sixth-grade contest.

Josh Burkhart’s 27 points powered the Wildcats, while Jared Creech led Cawood with 24 points.

Cawood travels to Rosspoint on Thursday. Evarts plays at Cumberland on Monday.

Treyce Spurlock had 20 points as Wallins defeated James A. Cawood 54-20 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Thursday.

Steven Leath led teh Trojans with 12 points.

Jared Hawkins scored 14 and Taylor Spurlock added 12 as Wallins won 40-30 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Wallins travels to Cumberland on Monday. James A. Cawood plays host to Cumberland on Tuesday.

HMS remains unbeaten

The Harlan Green Dragons improved to 9-0 in seventh- and eighth-grade action with a trio of recent victories.

Noah Busroe had 16 points and Cameron Carmical added 13 as Harlan downed Pineville 56-21.

Busroe’s 16 points lifted the Dragons to a 54-37 win over Lynn Camp.

Devon Foster recorded eight points as HMS defeated Lone Jack 38-8.

Troy Barton’s eight points sent Harlan to a 25-7 victory over Pineville in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Kilian Ledford tossed in 19 points to lift Harlan to a 40-37 win over Lynn Camp.

Patrick Bynum’s nine points led the Dragons to a 38-13 victory over Lone Jack.
