I find it unacceptable that Bob Costas of NBC used his reporting of a recent murder/suicide to give a ranting dialogue for gun control. Liberals are not at all hesitant to try to impose their viewpoint on society while denying the right Americans are guaranteed in our constitution.

If all guns were turned in by all American citizens, then the only people left with firearms would be the police and criminals. Liberals are on a campaign to take away many of our constitutional rights. I reject their concept of a big brother society. Ronald Reagan said that big government is often the problem.

The answer to violence begins in the home. We need to teach our family members to respect and value human life. In a country like ours, where thousands of abortions occur daily, it is no wonder that crime is as widespread as it is.

Secondly, we need honest prosecutors and judges in our courts. Notice in stories of violent crime, how often a plea bargain reduces the penalty for the crime to a much lesser punishment. And, we all know how a person who has political ties receives a lesser punishment or often shock probation. Seldom do we see the repeat offender penalty invoked. Until we demand more accountability on the actions of prosecutors and judges, things will not improve in the punishment of persons for violent crimes.

On the issue of gun control, I say that we already have enough laws now. Let Bob Costas move to Canada, if he doesn’t like life in the United States.
