William Conley “Bill” Brown age 66 of Harlan, KY passed away on December 19, 2012 at the V.A. Hospital in Johnson City, TN following a long illness. He was born May 29, 1943 in Black Star to the late Carter and Ann Brown. He was a retired coal miner. Bill was a member and the organ player at Mary Helen United Methodist Church. He loved his church and playing the organ was the joy of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Barton.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Edna Brown of Harlan, KY; his daughter, Connie Collier of Fort Wayne, IN; three step-children, Sylvia Shepherd of Harlan, KY, Julie Mack of Jonesboro, TN, and Bobby Shepherd of Harlan ,KY; one brother, Ronnie Brown of Pineville, KY; three sisters, Lynne Garren of Greenville, SC, Mary Ruth Calhoun of London, KY, and Judy Miller of Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral beginning at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Robert C. Landis officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, December 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the Harlan County Honor Guard.
