He was a native of Cumberland, KY. A graduate of Southeast Community College, and was a member of the Sandhill Primitive Baptist Church; he was employed by General Motors in Cincinnati, OH for several years, a UMWA coal miner, and later retired as a State Mine Inspector.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Luther Brock Jr.
Fred is survived by his wife of 40 years, Norma Vazzana Brock, of Cumberland KY; four stepchildren, Charlotte Clay, and Sharon McKnight both of Cumberland, Connie Taylor and husband Terry, of New Tazewwll, TN; and Melissa Burke and husband Roger of Eolia, KY; four grandchildren; Mary Ann “Pooh” Adams and husband Bryan, of Cumberland, Matthew Clay of Cumberland, Kenny and Cissy Taylor of New Tazewell, TN. Five great-grandchildren, Kyla “KK,” Ethan, Jaylyn, “JJ” and Noah all of Eolia, and Brandon Clay of Harlan. One brother Roscoe Brock, one sister Sarah “Sis” Brock, and a niece Charlotte Azbill and husband Timothy all of Mount Veron, KY; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home from 6-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 2 pm with Brother Jimmy Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery with Roger Burk, Kenny Taylor, Matt Clay, Matt Miles, Tommy Lewis and Gary Ledford serving as pallbearers; Rick Raleigh, Pearl Cress, Bryan Adams, Mark Lewis, Barry Cornett, Billy Joe Clark, James Vazzana, Brayden Clay, and Ethan Burke will serve as honorary pallbearers.
