Mrs. Laura Edna Brock, 83, of Wallins, entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1929 in Harlan County and had lived here all of her life. Laura was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Banner Fork Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Brock; her parents, the Reverend Dewey Saylor and Sarah Caldwell Saylor; two brothers, Onzie Saylor and Dewey Saylor, Jr.; two sisters, Delsia Brock and Lola Witt; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Hicks and Bob Hicks.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Brock, Sr. and wife Linda, of Smith, KY; a daughter, Betty L. Johnson and husband Clark, of Cawood, KY; one brother, Jess Saylor (Nell), of Alabama; four sisters, Eva Lee Hicks, Lillie Howard (Stanley), Anna Lou Hicks, and Doshia Campbell (Ed), all of London.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jerry Brock, Jr. (Jill), Jennifer Johnson (Tim), Josh Johnson (Tina), and Kristi Saylor; six great-grandchildren, Seth Brock, Adam Brock, Abby Johnson, Joy Johnson, Jayde Saylor and Nathan Johnson; and three step-grandchildren, Frank Smith, Joetta Smith and Jeff Smith.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Thursday evening at Harlan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7 pm at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Salt Trace Cemetery near Bledsoe. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home just prior to 11 am Friday to proceed to the cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerry Brock, Jr., Josh Johnson, Tim Johnson, George Caldwell, and other family and friends.
