Oscar Lee Baird, Jr., age 86 of Cumberland, KY passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 09, 2013. He was born April 18, 1927 in Cumberland to the late Oscar Lee Baird, Sr. and Opal Keller Baird. He worked 25 years as a coal miner for US Steel. Oscar served in World War II and was a member of the VFW.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Tucker Baird; sister, Billie Ruth Sorke; and a son, Bruce L. Baird.

He is survived by his two daughters, Dianne Baird Sanford and husband, David, of Texas and Patricia Baird Phelps of Texas; eight grandchildren, Joseph Baird, Scott Baird, Corey Phelps, David Sanford, Jr., Colton Guenter, Bruce Baird, Jr., Sabrina Harris, and Jennine Sanford Morris; four great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY on Saturday, January 12, 2013, between 5 – 8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at 1 pm with Ricky Sorke officiating. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland, KY.

Pallbearers will be David Sanford, David Sanford, Jr., Allen Bush, Edward Bush, David Fields, and Ricky Sorke.
