Dr. Richard E.Skrip, Podiatrist, has now opened an office in Harlan where he hopes to heal your aching heels, relieve the pain of flat feet and offer immediate relief for ingrown toenails.

A native of the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, Skrip and his wife, Lucille, along with their two daughters, Victoria and Gabrielle, have been residents of London for the past 13 years.

Skrip is a magna cum laude graduate of Wilkes University and graduated third in his class at the Philadelphia College of Podiatric Medicine with numerous honors. He also completed a two-year surgical residency at Philadelphia’s Park View Hospital before traveling to Kentucky to begin his practice.

With offices in Harlan, London, Hazard and Whitesburg, Skrip’s Harlan office is located at 99 Browning Acres, Suite 19, across from the Harlan ARH Hospital.

Skrip said podiatry focuses on treatments of ingrown toenails, bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, flat feet, plantar warts, gout and foot ulcerations, as well as diabetic foot care. He said bunions, hammertoes and heel pain, if not resolved with conservative care, can be treated with surgery.

“These surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis in my office or I am affiliated with the Harlan ARH Hospital,” said Skrip. “I also offer custom molded inserts for flat feet, fallen arches and heel pain, as well as a line of shoes designed particularly for diabetics. I am also qualified to treat sports-related injuries, sprains and fractures of the foot.”

Saying foot problems come in all ages, Skrip said he treats pediatric, young adults and geriatric patients. He is qualified to accept most any third party or health maintenance organization insurance, as well as Medicaid and Medicare.

“I welcome any new patient,” said Skrip. “I’m excited to have an office here in Harlan to help those who have ailments with their feet or ankles. I encourage you to stop by or call and make an appointment today, so we can begin treatment on your feet and ankle problems.”
