Monie Johnson Hamblin, 96, of Evarts passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness. Born March 11, 1916 in Rockcastle County, Monie had lived here most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Evarts Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hamblin; father, John Holland Johnson; mother, Cora Whitaker Johnson; three sons, John, James and Paul Hamblin; one daughter, Maxine Bradford; two brothers, Hershel and Coy Johnson; five sisters, Hazel Mullins Bishop, Allie Phelps, Grace Cornett, Sybil Scott and Leland Helton.

Survivors include two children, Fred Hamblin and wife, Sue, Evarts; and Wanda Faye Brock, Ooltewah, TN.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5 until 8 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 1 PM with the Reverend Joey Robertson officiating.

Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
