Various emergency agencies responded to a three-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Waldon Lane and U.S. 421 near Walmart around 3:15 p.m. Friday. The Harlan City Fire Department uses the Jaws of Life to free one victim from his pickup truck. He was taken to the helipad at Harlan ARH Hospital and airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. Additional information was unavailable from investigating officer Jeff Owens of the Harlan City Police Department. Due to the crash, southbound traffic on U.S. 421 was blocked for sometime during the busy school dismissal hour while the scene was cleared of debris.
