U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers visited recently the Harlan campus of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College where he observed the Accelerated Opportunities Program that has been implemented by the school. The federally-funded program works to put dislocated workers on the fast track toward a career and employment, utilizing the team teaching concept of two instructors. SKCTC student Larry Napier, right, a former coal miner who is now taking classes in the welding program, presented to the congressman a hand-carved plaque. Looking on were Dr. Vic Adams and Dr. W. Bruce Ayers. Rogers also visited the ChalleNGe Academy at Grays Knob.
