For those who love shoes, preparations are being made for the opening of a Shoe Show Mega Store in the Woodland Plaza Shopping Center in Harlan. Bringing a new and more expanded shoe store, Shoe Shoe in the Village Center Mall will relocate to the former Lee Furniture Store.

Shoe Show Mega Store will take over a total of 12,726 square feet compared to their present 3,550 square feet at the Village Center Mall.

“We have been in Harlan for the past 27 years,” said Shoe Show Representative Vicki S. Ayers. “The customers in Harlan County have been good to Shoe Show.”

Ayers said one of the things Shoe Show does when they have been in a trade area or market for several years is to insure they have the correct size store, and that they have a position in the market to where they can maximize the sales potential, and give to the consumers their “best foot forward.”

“At this time in our history in Harlan, we felt we owed it to our customers to give them a new store and even a new concept that will keep our customers thinking Shoe Show for all their family footwear in Harlan County, and they don’t have to drive to larger markets to shop for family footwear,” said Ayers. “The change will allow Shoe Show to be positioned for the next 25 years.”

Founded in 1960 in Kannapolis, N.C., Shoe Show Inc.’s success has been based on a simple formula of providing quality products, service and value. Over the past 52 years Shoe Show Inc. has continued to grow with stores named Shoe Show, Shoe Show Dept. and Burlington Shoes. Currently Shoe Show Inc. has 1,133 locations in 37 states. Shoe Shoe Inc. has maintained its formula of success through technological advances and operating efficiencies such as, standard store design, an efficient distribution center and computer links with stores and vendors.

“We don’t have an estimated opening date for the new location as of yet,” said Ayers.
