Harlan City Police Officers responded to the scene of a robbery in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Officer Britt Ross and Sgt. George Young were dispatched to the Pizza Hut in Harlan to investigate the incident. The call came in at 1:45 a.m. through 911 at Kentucky State Police Post 10.
According to a press release from the Harlan City Police, the officers met Pizza Hut Manager Dottie Brock at the scene. Brock advised them “two men, one wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt and the other wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt approached her wearing masks as she was carrying the nightly deposit to her vehicle.”
The release states Brock told police “that the taller male subject then pointed a handgun at her demanding that she give them the money bag. It was at this time the man gained control of the bag and the keys to the store.”
The two men then fled the scene and proceeded to the rear of the store over an embankment where Brock lost sight of the two men. Harlan City Police were assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police troopers Kevin Miller and Marcus Williams.
The incident is under investigation by Young and Ross. Ross noted during an interview Wednesday there are no leads at this time.
