Doris June Peterson Alvin “Moochie,” age 76 of Harlan, KY, passed away on December 2, 2012 at the Harlan Nursing Home.

Rejoice with us in celebrating the life of Moochie. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was coal miner’s daughter born in 1936 Brookside Kentucky she was one of nine children. Being the first girl she would help her mom with her sisters and brothers. She was destined to grow up and become a mother. She married young and raised six children. She lost her husband after 14 years of marriage at an early age (Garry Herman Combs). Moochie would tell her sister that the happiest time of her life was when she came to know Jesus. Prior to her moving into the nursing home she was active in her church. She enjoyed being with her church friends and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her father Augustus Peterson and mother Mary Irene Peterson, also by three of her brothers, Clayton Peterson, Charles Peterson, and Robert “Dunk” Peterson. Sister In Law Joan Peterson (Bill).

She is survived by Rosemary (John) Shriver, Elgin IL, Rosalind Thornton, Geneva Il, Garry (Cindy) Combs, Poplar Grove, Il, Steve Combs, Belvidere, Il, Muriel “Jeannie” Lynch, and David (Martha) Alvin, Minot North Dakota. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Brothers Bill Peterson, of Dayton, OH, Gary (Pat) Peterson, of Williamsburg, KY, Rocky (Vicki) Peterson of Verda, KY, Sisters Linda Gail Shackleford, Harlan KY, Mary Margaret (Tikie) Saragas of Baxter, KY, Sister-In-Law Janie Peterson (late Charles) of Ages, KY and Countless nieces and nephews and extended family that she loved so very much.

Visitation will be held Friday December 7, 2012 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held Saturday 10:00 A.M. at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY.
