Several Harlan football players received individual honors from the Southeastern Kentucky Conference (SEKC) recently.
A trio of Green Dragons earned specialty awards for Class A-2A.
Senior Ty Saragas was named the SEKC Quarterback of the Year. Saragas compelted 121 passes for 1,902 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2012.
Senior Dakota Morris was named the conference’s offensive back of the year. Morris compiled 358 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, with 20 receptions for 212 yards and one score through the air.
Fellow senior Eric Young was selected as the SEKC Kicker/Punter of the Year.
Williamsburg claimed the top two individual awards, with quarterback Dalton Sizemore receiving player of the year honors, and Jerry Herron named coach of the year. Additional individual award winners include: offensive lineman of the year —Jacob Jeffers (Williamsburg); linebacker of the year — Jefferson Patrick (Williamsburg); receiver of the year —Skyler Griffith (Williamsburg); defensive lineman of the year — Tyler Prater (Middlesboro); defensive back of the year — Austin Poindexter (Middlesboro) and Cory Shelton (Williamsburg); all-purpose player of the year — Andrew Douglas (Pineville) and Aaron Mills (Lynn Camp).
In addition to the individual award winners, David Allen, Ryland Atkins, Okey Boggs, Ryan Jones, and Travis Laws represented the Dragons on the All-SEKC team. Harlan’s Cody Logan, Dalton Overbay, Drew Middleton and Andrew Brock were named All-SEKC honorable mentions.
