The Harlan Outdoor Recreation Authority made plans for an improved website for the Black Mountain Thunder Park and zip line during a recent meeting.
The board called in web designer Bobby Cornett to advise them on the possibilities of updating the park’s website.
“We can make it look about 75 percent similar,” said Cornett. “The graphics would go, the animations would go, the text would go. We could keep the same font, color scheme, things like that. It would be a little bit different than what you have now because it’s a basic tool. But it’s really easy to edit, and it eliminates having to pay somebody to take care of it for you.”
Board member Ken Crider noted the park’s current website is not very “owner friendly.”
“We need something we can work with regardless of what happens with that other site,” said Chairman Dallas Gilbert.
The board members explained that one problem they have with the current site concerns posting new pictures.
“We need a site that on Monday morning we can show people what happened over the weekend,” said Gilbert.
According to board member Ronnie Shoope, a 10-page website would be sufficient.
“A calendar, a photo gallery, a homepage, and a place for the zip line. So, 10 pages will be plenty right now,” said Shoope. “If we want to add more we can.”
After discussing what specifics were desired for the site, the board passed a motion approving Cornett to create a 10-page website for the Black Mountain ATV Park and zip line to submit for the board’s approval.
In other activity the board:
* Discussed checking with an engineer to find out what it would cost to lengthen zip line number eight;
* Considered the possibility of shuttling bike riders to the top of the mountain so they can start their ride from there;
* Discussed the possibility of starting a Twitter account for the purposes of marketing the park and zip line.
