James was born Dec. 20, 1931 in Smith, KY to the late William Isaac and Annie Lee Stewart Daniels. He was a retired Coal Miner with over 40 years of service to the industry. He was honored by Coal Age Magazine 2 years in a row for the most tonnage produced per man hour. He was also a member of the NRA. He was a hard working, warm hearted, generous man who loved his family dearly and believed in the Baptist Faith.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Miracle Daniel; 2 sons, James Garrett Daniels, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Daniels; sisters, Mary Willie Goss, Geneva Jean Hyden, Nancy Ruth Clem, and Lovie Lee Daniels; special friend and companion in his later years, Edith Hensley Goodin.
He is survived by 7 loving children, William Isaac (Sue) Daniels of Smith, Lois (Terry) Goodwin of Frankfort, IN, Dorothy Jean Stewart of Smith, Charlene (Colonel) Smith of Frankfort, IN, Annie (Joe) Jenkins of Smith, Wanda (David) Sturgill of Frankfort, IN and Randy (Darby) Daniels of Smith; 4 sisters, Dorothy Davis of Frankfort, IN, Beatrice Warren of Corbin, Charlotte Jenkins of Smith, and Norma Maxine (John) Oberholtzer of Corbin; 30 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Tuesday Jan. 15, 2013 after 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the New Riverside Baptist Church, Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday Jan. 16, 2013 at the church with Rev. Ronnie Hampton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Daniels Cemetery at Smith with Grandsons serving as Pallbearers.
