Fresh off of a victory over Lynn Camp, the Harlan Lady Dragons upset another top 13th Region Class A team on Friday, pulling away in the second half for a 65-54 victory over visiting Barbourville.
Jourdan Ledford had five points in the first quarter as Harlan took a 12-11 lead. The junior added six more in the second quarter to keep the Lady Dragons within two at the half. Ledford finished with a team-high 18 points.
Eighth-grade guard Jordan Brock had a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as Harlan turned a two-point halftime deficit into a 42-37 lead.
Torri Mitchell took over from that point. The sophomore forward had 10 of her 17 points in the final period as the Lady Dragons put the game away.
Harlan (8-10) will travel to Middlesboro for a 52nd District contest today, while Barbourville (13-6) will host Williamsburg.
Barbourville had little trouble getting to the free throw line, but wasn’t as successful after they arrived at the charity stripe, hitting just 24-of-41 attempts.

Harlan won 42-28 in the junior varsity contest.
Katie King led the Lady Dragons with 12 points. Shanae Thomas contributed 10 points. Callie Wilson recorded nine points. Kaitlyn Jenkins had six points, and Mackenzie King added five points.
