Hazel Mae Davis Powell, 82, of Evarts, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born January 12, 1931 in Harlan County and had lived here all of her life.

Hazel was a homemaker and a member of the Evarts Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Powell; two sons, Billy Ray Powell and Glenn Edward Powell; her parents, William Davis and Maggie Mazingo Davis Fields Brock; one brother, Dillard Davis; and one infant sister, Margie Davis.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Winstead and husband, Harold, Cub Run, KY; two brothers, Willard Davis and wife, Bud Lee, Trenton, OH; and Bobby Davis and wife Joyce, Lenoir City, TN; her daughter-in-law, Angela Powell; special friend, Freda Perkins; and a sister-in-law, Katie Davis.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jeff Winstead and wife, Rachel; Jason Powell, Shannon Logan, Bethany Winstead Henry and husband, Sean; Jeremy Powell, and Zack Thomas and wife, Megan; three great-grandchildren, Cody Logan, Marissa Powell and Anna Thomas.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 until 8 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 11, 2013, at 1 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Buddy Simpson and Reverend Frank Howard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens.

Jeff Winstead, Jason Powell, Jeremy Powell and Cody Logan will serve as pallbearers.
