Harlan Countian Brooklyhn Woods has made her music debut by releasing her first single and video “I Don’t Know Which Way To Go.”
Born and raised in Lynch, 19-year-old Woods is a Harlan County High School graduate and a student at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
“I’m incredibly blessed and forever thankful for the opportunities God has placed in front of me,” said Woods. “I’m so proud to be able to represent Harlan County is such a positive way.”
Filming her video in Partridge at an old farmhouse, Woods’ single “I Don’t Know which Way To Go” is a haunting melody and controversial storyline of betrayal and contemplated revenge written by veteran Nashville songwriters Phillip White and Tommy Conners.
“The home had the character we were looking for — right down to the floral wallpaper and the picture of Jesus hanging over the bed,” said Woods. “I had an amazing time stepping into this character and having this experience.”
Woods has been involved with music for “as long as she can remember” singing at church and school.
“I have a lot of pride toward my hometown and I always will. I feel like in this life you have one shot to make it the best it can be, and I plan on living my life to the fullest,” said Woods. “Music has always been my passion — it’s what I do. My plans include traveling and sharing my music with the world.”
Bernard Porter, founder of Big Fish Entertainment in Nashville, Tenn., discovered Woods during a music seminar he was conducting at the Opryland Hotel on performance critiques. He said in a press release, “Brooklyhn is beautiful, talented, hardworking and loyal. She’s an inspiration to everyone she works with. We’re so proud of her.”
Woods said she believes if you have a dream “you should go for it wholeheartedly.”
“I am blessed and forever thankful for the support system I have,” said Woods. “I’m very excited to see what God has in store for me. To those who have a dream, never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.”
