The Harlan Lady Dragons evened their record at 2-2 Saturday with a 5-2 victory over visiting Williamsburg.

“It felt good to get back even after our slow start,” said Harlan coach Scott Lewis. “Hopefully, we can stay on the same path. We have got a ways to go, but get are slowly getting there.”

The Lady Jackets took a brief lead with one run in the second inning, before Harlan answered with one of its own in the bottom half. Alyssa Mills reached base on an error. Mills stole second and later scored when Kaylee McNiel reached base on an error.

The Lady Dragons took control with three runs in the third inning.

Madison started the offense with a double, she scored on the play due to a Williamsburg error. Heather Holland followed with a walk and Jourdan Ledford reached base on a fielder’s choice. Brewer then reached on an error to drive in a run. Torri Mitchell brought home the final run of the inning when she grounded out.

“We finally started slowing our bats down. We were way ahead of the pitcher and were trying to adjust to the speed of the pitch,” Lewis said.

Harlan extended its lead to 5-1 with another run in the fourth inning. Shanae Thomas doubled to reach base. She stole third and later scored on a sacrifice bunt from Noe.

Noe and Thomas each recorded a double to lead the Lady Dragons at the plate. Holland and Brewer each added a single.

Noe recorded six strikeouts, while giving up just three hits in the complete-game victory on the mound.

“She is gradually improving. She is still young. We have lot work to do, but she is where we want her to be right now,” Lewis said.

Harlan (2-2) will travel to Leslie County today, while Williamsburg (1-1) will visit Lynn Camp.
