Bob was a decorated WWI veteran and was a graduate of Caney Jr. College, Morehead State University and Ohio State University. He was employed with ARH in Kentucky, West Virginia and Washington D.C. for many years; retiring as administrator of ARH Hospital in Whitesburg.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, C.B. and Fred Thornsberry; sisters, Zola Cook, Lillie Tuttle, Ellen Roberts, Kossie Tuttle, Elsie Thornsberry, Magnolia Tuttle and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sparks Thornsberry; daughter, Patricia Ann (Wayne) Curry; grandchildren, Robby Curry and Mary-Ruth Curry; great-grandson, Robby Curry II and former wife Ruth Honeycutt, all of Harlan.
Services were conducted on May 21, 2012 at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Hindman with the Rev. Wayne Curry officiating. Burial was at the Webb Cemetery in Mayking with military rites observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Harlan Nazarene Church in Baxter or Harlan County Christian School in Putney.
