She was born January 31, 1921 to the late David & Lula Mae Cottengim in Pine Hill, KY. She was the eldest of 6 children, and was preceded in by all 5 of her siblings: J.D. Cottengim, Eunice Martin, Glenna Baker, Nina Griffin, Ruby Gabbard; also preceding her in death is her husband, Omer Overbay, Sr. all 3 of her children, Ronald Overbay, Katherine Overbay and Omer Overbay, Jr; a very special friend Kermit Messer.
She is survived by 2 daughter-in-laws, Bonnie Overbay of Brodhead and Jewell Overbay of Harlan; brother-in-law, Floyd Gabbard, Brodhead; sister-in-laws, Hazel Sowders of Savannah, TN and Marie Payne of Cordell, GA; very special friend, Ruth Cox; 3 grandchildren, Wayne (Debbie) Overbay, David (Diane) Overbay, and Renee (David) Hill all of Harlan; 9 great grandchildren, Drew (Whitney) Overbay, Stephen (Jessica) Overbay, Michael Rigney, Jessie (Charity) Rigney, Dalton and Ashley Overbay, Tori, Brandon, and Blake Hill; 3 great-great grandchildren on the way; and a host of nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Friday June 8, 2012 from 6 – 8:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Another visitation will be held Saturday June 9, 2012 from 12 until 2:00 pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, Brodhead, KY with funeral services following at 2:00 pm with David Overbay presiding.
Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery, Brodhead, KY
