Billy Dan Shepherd 78, of Gulston, Ky. Passed away Fri. July 6, 2012 at the Tri-Cities Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cumberland, Ky. He was born April 15, 1934 in Catrons Creek, Ky. Billy was a retired construction worker, a Veteran of the U.S. Army and attended the Harlan Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; John & Melissa Hensley Shepherd. Wife; Jean Elizabeth Rowe Shepherd. Son; Billy “Duke” Shepherd. 1 Great grandchild; Brady. 3 Brothers; Howard Shepherd, Fielding Hensley & Albert Shepherd. 3 Sisters; Izetta Vaughn, Beatrice Thomas & Ruth Sprinkles.

Survivors include two children; John Shepherd of Gulston, Ky. & Valerie Smith of Harlan, Ky.3 Grandchildren; Melissa Sayers & husband Tom, Cassandra Cooper & husband Jerry & Tim Leslie. 5 Great grandchildren; Bryson, Mason, Peyton, Destiny & Joyanna. 3 Sisters; Elizabeth Howard of Mary Alice, Ky. Maxine Turner & husband Joe of Big Laurel, Ky. & Lucille Souleyret of Mary Alice, Ky. And several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Mon. July 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Nick Noe officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery of Keith, Ky. Visitation will be Mon. July9, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
