Georgia Ward Bailey of Kildav, celebrated her heavenly reunion with her family on September 1, 2012 following an illness. Georgia was born on May 10, 1936 in Knott County, KY and moved with her family to Harlan County as a child and resided here for the remainder of her life. A strong and resilient woman through every hardship she faced, Georgia was a fiercely devoted mother and grandmother and took great pride in her life as a homemaker. Georgia was an excellent cook and she used to say that there was nothing that a belly full of Mamaw’s food couldn’t fix. Her favorite flowers were mums and words cannot describe how deeply she will be missed. Georgia believed in the Baptist faith.

The family members in heaven awaiting her include her parents, George Amburgey and Nora Messer, husbands Cecil G. Ward Sr., and Nathan Bailey, her beloved son David Ward, her brother James “Bert” Morris, and her favorite and only grandson, Cecil G. Ward III. She leaves behind her beloved son Cecil G. Ward Jr., and his wife Lora of Verda, one dearest sister, Emma Irvin and her husband Larry of Cloverdale IN, one deeply devoted granddaughter, Kelli Ward-Sturgill and her husband Jerry of Madisonville KY, one precious great granddaughter, Chloe Bella Cecilia (Ward) Luttrell, daughter of Hunter and Tiffany Luttrell of Harlan, niece Sherry Duvall and family, and nephew Larry Irvin Jr. and his family, both of Indiana. Among the many friends Georgia also leaves behind, one special friend, Debbie Osborne Howard of Jones Creek, whom Georgia loved as her own, helped care for her in her final days.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 8 PM in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home

Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 4, 2012 at 1 PM with Pastor Danny McCreary officiating.

Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
