Franklin M. “Green” Swanson 79, of Cawood, Ky. Passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Holston Valley Medical Center following a sudden illness. Green loved to talk about politics, visiting flea markets and planting a big garden. He was also retired from the Harlan Co. Road Dept. As a maintance worker. He was born March 14, 1933 to the late Harve & Rachel Mitchell Swanson.

Also preceding him in death was his wife of 53 yrs; Opal Lee Swanson. 3 Brothers; Hiram, Willliard and Bill Swanson. 1 Sister; Leona Burkhart. 2 Half-Sisters; Sude Grubbs & Jane Price.

Survivors include 7 children; Franklin Swanson Jr. & wife Rita of Gulston, Ky. Angelina Grubbs & husband Lee Robert of Cawood, Ky. Patricia Reeves & husband Donnie of Cawood, Ky. Rachel Swanson of Cawood, Ky. Paul (Mildred) Swanson of Cawood, Ky. LouVeda Rose Hensley & husband Denny of Gulston, Ky. & Robert Swanson & girlfriend Susie of Cawood, Ky. 2 Sisters; Ethel Eldridge of IN. Lottie Mullins of Missouri. 11 Grandchildren; Franklin Swanson of LaFollette, TN. Jason Swanson (Ashley) of London, Ky. Jacqueline Grubbs & Lee R. Grubbs both of Cawood, Ky. Donnie Ray Reeves (Tiffany) of Cawood, Ky. Christina Begley (Jason) of Cawood, Ky. Joshua Reeves (Kasey) of Cawood, Ky. Opal Caldwell (John) of Morristown, TN. John Hensley & Christopher Hensley both of Lexington, Ky. 13 great grandchildren; Destiny, Aiden, & Logan Swanson, Mason & Abbey Reeves, Perry & Emma Begley, Tristen & Taylor Reeves, Kevin Caldwell & Ryan Caldwell., and 1 future great granddaughter and friend Henrietta Inman.

Funeral services will be conducted Thurs. September 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Rev. Franklin Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Swanson Family Cemetery of Cawood, Ky. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Wed. September 5, 2012 from 6-9 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home
