Paul Jackson, age 89, a native of Harlan County was born April 8, 1923 in Cumberland and died Saturday, October 06, 2012, at his home. He was a graduate of Cumberland High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked for a number of years as a coal truck driver and later as a tipple operator at Scotia Coal Company before retirement. He believed in the Baptist faith and served as a deacon for many years at the Blair Chapel and was a faithful member of the Little Cowen Primitive Baptist Church for many years. Dad loved to sing. His greatest joy in life was singing praises to the Lord

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elavie Henson Jackson; his mom and dad, Margaret Gilliam Jackson and Jason Jackson; a brother, Archie Jackson; sisters, Edna Scott, Verna Johnson, and Vera Overbey; grandson, David Paul Coots and granddaughter, Kae Sears.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Perry and Orville of Cumberland, and Paula Sears of Cumberland; granddaughter Kim Hadden and Chris of Paris, KY; great grandchildren, Samantha Royse of Paris, KY, Sarah Davis of Paintsville, KY, Nicholas Hadden of Paris, KY; special great great granddaughter, Ariah Thomas of Paris, KY; brother, Jason Jackson, Jr. of Knoxville, TN; sisters Lena Hill of Cumberland and Wilma Sturgill of Springhill, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 09, 2012, between 6 – 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, in the chapel at 1 pm with Elder Woodrow Fields, Elder Johnny Banks and Elder Brad Dutton. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Cumberland with Robert Sword, Justin Banks, Rex Fields, Roger Raleigh, Tracy Thomas and Bobby Caudill serving as pallbearers.
