Donald Dean Russell, 81, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 with his family by his side.

He was born and raised in Coldiron, KY. He served proudly in the U.S. Army with Company A 1903 Engineering Battalion during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 32 years of service to International Harvester, and was a member of Local 1336 UAW. He was very devoted to his family, and was a loving husband, father, and papaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Russell; a sister, Daisy Harris; brother, Clinton “Boo” Russell; and a granddaughter, Myra Georgette Coomer.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Florence G. Long Russell; Eight children, Patricia Russell, Sharon Holeman (James), Marsha Coomer (George), Panda Caldwell (Doug), Gloria Sims (Carlie), Donald Russell Jr. (Karin), Victor Russell (Joni), and Mark Russell (Donna); Two sisters, Della Brock and Olia Carter; Three brothers, Earl, Kyle, and Charles Ray Russell; 17 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; & 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, Mt. Washington, with burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday.
