He was a lifelong resident and Harlan County native, a retired coal miner having worked for US Steel and Arch of KY for 40 years. He was a faithful member of the Cumberland Pentecostal Church and a WWII veteran of the Army/Air Force.
Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his parents, the late Ezra Ed and Sindie Mae Scott Davis, a daughter Linda Cornett, and three brothers, Curtis Jr, Jimmy, and Millard Davis.
Survivors include his wife Wanette Irvin Davis, of Cumberland, three children, Glen Davis and wife Brenda of Fort Wayne, IN; Stanley Davis and wife Martha of Cumberland, and Leonard Davis Jr. and wife Libby of Louisville, KY; four brothers, Roy, Willie, Ronald, and Jerry Davis. Two sisters Christine Owens, and Lorraine Cuzzart. Eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, and two great –great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Cumberland Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 6 until 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 1 pm with the Rev. Michael and Barbara Blair officiating. Following the funeral service burial will be held in the D.L. Creech Cemetery with military rites performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
