Jefferson “Jeff” Burkhart, 90, of Knoxville, formerly of Kenvir, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born May 12, 1922 in Kenvir and had lived here most of his life. Jeff was a coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers of America, a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Evarts Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Parrie Fuson Burkhart; his parents, Jeff and Dora Burkhart; two sons, Larry Clarence Crider and Harvey Lee Crider. Eight brothers and three sisters also precede him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Lou Reece; and Clara Jean Pressley and husband, Ron, all of Knoxville. Eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be Monday, February 4, 2013, from 11 AM until 2 PM in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM in the chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the George Middleton Cemetery, Pounding Mill, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
