He retired from Heritage Propane in 1998 after more than 26 years of service as a truck driver, which was a job he truly loved. Other activities Lorne enjoyed before his illness was fishing, gardening and collecting antiques. And he wasn’t afraid to let you know who his favorite team was…the Tennessee Vols. The Cincinnati Reds were his second favorite.
Lorne was preceded in death by his father, Jack Thomas Ball; an infant brother, Donnie Ball; a sister, Loretta King; and a sister-in-law, Claudia Ball.
Survivors include his mother, Nannie Ball, of Tremont; his son, Terry Ball and wife Ashley, of Tremont; his step-daughter, Tracy Ball and husband Phillip, of Evarts; two granddaughters, Haley Ball and Jocelyn Ball; a grandson, Jared Ball; four sisters, Leona Aldridge, Louisville; Ruth Garrett and husband Jim, Fresh Meadows; Lisa Guffey and husband Carlos, Jacksonville, FL; and Teresa Ball, Tremont; seven brothers, Lonnie Ball, Tampa, FL; Larry J. Ball, Louisville; Lawrence Ball and wife Carmen, Tremont; Arthur Ball and wife Cathy, Williamsburg; Roger Ball and wife Paula, Wallins; Phillip Ball, Loyall; and Leslie Ball, Tremont; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family of Lorne Ball will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 1 pm until 3 pm at Loyall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 3 pm with the Reverend Gary Craig, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be at Harlan County Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
