Virgle Ward, 66, of Wallins, passed from this life unexpectedly on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Virgle was born December 12, 1946 at Kettle Island and has lived here all of his life. He had worked most of his life as a coal miner and truck driver, and most recently served as a records specialist at the office of Dr. Gregory Dye in Harlan. Virgle was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Holy Trinity Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beulah Daniels Ward; his parents, Chester and Catherine Morgan Ward; H.L. and Alice Ward Saylor, whom raised him; a sister, Nora Lee Hensley; sister-in-law, Nannie Ward; and brothers-in-law, Robert Hensley, Baxter Eldridge and Chuck Walker.

Survivors include his daughter, Carla Dye and husband Gregory, of Wallins; his son, Jason Ward and wife Averdita, of Nidda Germany; three grandchildren, Kimberly Ward; Tyler Ward; and Edmund Dye; three brothers, Eugene Ward, Ernest Ward and wife Melissa, and Ray Ward; two sisters, Jessie Walker and Rosie Lee Eldridge; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visitation for Virgle will be from 6 – 8 pm Monday evening at Holy Trinity Church. There will be a Wake Service at the conclusion of the visitation.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Tuesday at the church with Father T. Mani George Thellikalayil, M.C. officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Daukas, Mike Shackleford, Chuck Bianchi, Jason Long, David Daukas and Roy Shackleford.
